Cor Cantiamo is pleased to announce they have received a $4,000 grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation. This grant will help fund a commissioning project that Cor Cantiamo is planning for their 2016-17 concert season. Cor Cantiamo is an Ensemble in Residence at the NIU School of Music.
Cor Cantiamo has developed a commissioning project that brings together the creative energies of nationally acclaimed composer Timothy Takach with the professional choral ensemble Cor Cantiamo, a DeKalb County based performing arts ensemble, to produce a new choral work. The project will include a world premiere performance, presented in DeKalb, and a composer residency that will serve students at DeKalb and Sycamore High Schools and the choral students at Northern Illinois University. “We are excited to have the opportunity to connect with the DeKalb County community through our concerts and educational outreach with area high school students,” states Founding Artistic Director Eric A. Johnson. “The support we receive from DCCF not only provides the financial means to attain our goals, it also motivates our leadership to find more opportunities to enrich our local arts scene with world class artistic programming.”
